ETSY SHOP UPDATE TONITE AND MUCH MORE ...

Well, the month of November is full of promises !

I love this time of the year when summer has been put away in the back of my mind,

my son Ulysse's big annual family birthday party on September 30 (he turned 13) has been celebrated well,

the garden and the pool have been prepared for hibernation,

Halloween has happened once again on a great mild and clear night,

Chrismas and all its hype will be here soon

and I have 5 months ahead of me to create new art, locked up in my studio without even having to feel guilty about it !

I have been working real hard at finishing commissioned paintings this week as welll as making all kinds of fun artsy items to add in my Etsy shop in the weeks to come ...

Tonite,
Wednesday, November 4
at 10 p.m. Eastern Time
( I already told you guys about this),
I will be listing 30 different small prints mounted on wooden blocks
in my Etsy shop !

I am so excited about these, they are fun, colorful
and look amazing mounted in groups on a walll
or standing by themselves on a favorite shelf or piece of furniture.

One of each only,
first come, first served !

Of course, my Gothic Angel with skull original 8"x16" canvas painting is available in my Etsy Shop as well as on eBay till Friday night, if you want to bid on it.

I am so lucky te be featured on Stacy's beautiful blog nonpareil , sprinkles of indie style ! I simply love her bold and fun blog and from now on will be looking forward her new post about her latest finds. Merci for the great post, Stacy, and all your sweet words about my art!

I am delighted to have been featured on Aditi's wonderful blog onceuponateatime ... One of my favorite new place to visit ! Merci for talking about my Shop Update and my art, Aditi! I will make sure to come and visit you every day!

And my Frida with Fruits and Skulls has been featured on Fri's hot and sizzling blog Wedding Nouveau , a style guide for intercultural brides ! She has chosen this piece as an inspiration for creating a wedding a la Dia de Muertos style ! I can not get enough of all her amazing pictures, especially her Day of the Dead mosaic ! Merci y Gracias for talking about mi arte, Fri!

Mon Dieu !

Time is flying !
I am turning into the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland !

Oh my ! Gotta go ! Oh My !

MY OFRENDAS FOR DIA DE MUERTOS ...

While my son Ulysse was gone trick or treating with his friends at the village I kept busy on Halloween night. First, I got myself a super GIANT box of good-quality assorted chocolates, second, I dressed up in my favorite flannel pyjamas then I started applying the 4 coats of satin varnish on the 30 small-size prints I had mounted on black wooden blocks (made with recycled wood from the local woodmill).

I watched 3 horror movies while doing this

The Tennant
(with Roman Polanski)

The Fly
(not the Goldblum version but the real old one where
a fly with a human face is caught in a spider web at the end)

and The Shinning
(who doesn't know this movie)

I left my paint brushes at 4 a.m. to go to bed with a chocolate overdose, eyes coming out of their sockets and ears sore from all that screaming and howling.

Yesterday morning, the sun rays were warming the kitchen table where I had left all these tiny prints and they looked so lovely and bold and funky, they looked like jewels out of treasure box!

I am so happy with the results !

They can be mounted on a wall in an arrangement

and they also stand up and look pretty on a shelf with some other favorite trinkets

I will be listing them Wednesday,
November 4, 2009
in my Etsy shop at 10 p.m. Eastern Time !
(that is 9 p.m. Central Time)
(8 p.m. Mountain Time)
(7 p.m. Pacific Time)
(and 11 p.m. Maritime Time)

(sorry I had to delay listing to Wednesday
but tomorrow is parent's meeting night
at my son's school)

30 different prints mounted on wooden blocks,
measuring 4" x 4", 4 1/2" x 4 1/2", 3" x 5" and 4" x 5"
with a few exceptions.

I think they would make wonderful Christmas gifts or stocking stuffers !

First come, first served !

Oh! and before I forget ...

HAPPY DIA DE MUERTOS !

HAPPY BLACK AND WHITE AND ORANGE DAY !

A black-spotted white cat inside an orange pumpkin guarded by a trio of black and white skulls ...

Three black cats and a bunch of orange cupcakes ...

A black and white giant skull ...

A big bowl of orange icing ...

The mountain dressed up in an orange costume by the sunset ...

A bright-orange carrot shaped like the devil's fork ...

This is the kind of Halloween day we are having here!

Have tons of fun and dare to be scared !

HAPPY HALLOWEEN !

MY LITTLE GOTHIC ANGEL ...

Finally !

Something new in my shop !

I wanted to paint something unusual for Halloween ...

Something scary ...

Something magic ...

I wanted skulls in there

and some purple too

but I did not want to paint something with pumpkins ...

I wanted to paint something dark

but yet light ...

something bizarre ...

and yet amusing ...

I wanted to paint something in an Halloween ambiance that you can keep on your walls all year around ...

Et voilĂ  !

My little Gothic Angel is now available in my Etsy shop and if you would rather bid on it I have listed it on eBay as well!

Mon coeur EST noir CE SOIR ...

(my heart is dark tonite ...)

I can not wait to show you what else I have been working on!

Stay tuned !

BYE BYE GIRLS ...

Dahlias ...

I love Dahlias ...

They are just my kind of flowers ...

Bold ...

Dramatic ...

Colorful ...

Intense ...

Joyful ...

I start them early in March, simply plant the tubers saved from the previous Summer in flats with a bit of soil. By the time Spring has arrived for good, they stand tall and solid and are almost ready to flower.

And what a show they give !

They keep on flowering from June 'till late October.

I love visiting them early each morning with a cup of coffee in hand. It is like visiting a bunch of old girl friends.

I compliment them on the color of their dress ...

I marvel at their unusual hairdo ...

I even get jealous at their perfection ...

Each year, a new girl or two join the group of gossipers ...

Everyone is welcomed !

Rain or shine, they keep an eye on what's happening in the garden ...

I just adore them !

Then, one morning in fall, I walk to the garden for my daily visit to find out ...

the girls have gone in a deep sleep ...

Southern Quebec is too cold for them !

They have literally disapeared !

So I dig the bulbs, clean them up and dry them near the stove. Then I pack them in wood shavings in boxes and put them away 'till next March.

When the girls will wake up with the first song of the robins ...

Dahlias are snow-birds. You know they just don't dig winter ...

Wonder why I like them so much ?
